Hello all from blogger_dad!
We're here today at GCCAR for #abbe listening to some of the best in the biz talking on artist books and everything in between.
Tim Mosely introduces the first keynote speaker Brad Freeman, who discusses the joys and struggles of documentation and the 'hand-made' book.
Marian Macken talks about the brilliant expression possible through tactile elements and application to spacial practice and architecture.
--
Noreen Grahame talks unconventional art books, boldness, and the wonderful errors that work in favour of interesting and unique material. Noreen also raises the question of definition: how does one define their book? Art book? Artist book? Artists book? Artist's book?
--
Joel Lardner, via webcam, brings a little playfulness to the room with a study of intricate and colourful Picture books. With a lack of text, the visual impact can be much greater, creating aesthetic pleasure through a merge of simplicity and immersive content.
Bring on lunch!!
